At Donlon Brand, we represent victims whose images, likenesses, and identities have been stolen and weaponized by artificial intelligence — without their knowledge or consent. Our attorneys understand the profound violation these cases represent, and we are committed to pursuing justice with the same depth of research and relentless advocacy we bring to every case we take on.
What is AI Image Abuse?
AI image abuse occurs when someone uses artificial intelligence tools to create, manipulate, or distribute realistic images or videos of a real person, without that person’s consent. In many cases, victims have no prior relationship with the perpetrator and no idea it’s happening until the content has already spread.
What makes these cases particularly devastating is the scale at which AI can operate. Platforms and individuals have built entire business models around generating and monetizing explicit content of real women, or men, using scraped social media photos. A single operation can victimize hundreds of thousands of people. The technology is advancing faster than the law, and most victims don’t know they have legal options. But they do.
At the federal level, the TAKE IT DOWN Act, signed into law in May 2025, now criminalizes the distribution of non-consensual AI-generated intimate imagery and requires platforms to remove it within 48 hours of a report. Forty-five states have enacted their own protections, and civil litigation is creating new legal precedent every month.
But the law is playing catch-up. The technology moves faster than legislatures can respond, platforms operate across borders where enforcement is difficult, and new tools for generating and distributing this content emerge constantly. Existing statutes weren’t written with AI in mind, and the gaps they leave are real, leaving many victims without a clear path to justice under current law alone. That’s exactly why civil litigation matters so much right now. Landmark cases don’t just win compensation for individual victims — they force accountability, establish precedent, and send a message to the platforms and operators profiting from this harm that the legal system is catching up to them whether they’re ready or not.
Donlon Brand is actively litigating at the forefront of this emerging area of law, and we are committed to fighting for the guardrails that protect victims today and in the future.

Examples of AI Image Abuse Cases
Our firm will represent victims across several scenarios:
AI-Generated Explicit Images Without Consent
Someone used AI to create sexually explicit images or videos depicting you, using photos scraped from your social media profiles, taken from public sources, or obtained without your permission.
Platform-Based Exploitation
A company or platform built a business model around generating and selling AI-created intimate content of real women, profiting from the violation of hundreds or thousands of victims at once.
Deepfake Blackmail & Sextortion
AI-generated intimate images were created and used as leverage to extort money, compliance, or silence — often accompanied by threats to distribute the content publicly or to people you know.
School-Based Deepfake Abuse
A student’s likeness was used to generate explicit AI images, often by classmates using widely available AI tools. These cases are devastating for young victims and their families and are increasingly common across the country.
AI Voice Cloning & Impersonation
Your voice or likeness was replicated using AI to fabricate statements you never made, damage your reputation, defraud someone in your name, or harass and intimidate you or people close to you.
Workplace & Professional Reputation Harm
AI-generated content — explicit images, fabricated video, or cloned audio — was created and distributed with the intent to damage your professional reputation, undermine your credibility, or force you out of a role.
AI Image Abuse & Deepfakes Focus Areas
We provide specialized legal representation across all forms of AI-generated image abuse and deepfake exploitation:
Non-Consensual AI Intimate Images
The starting point for most victims in this space. If someone used AI to create explicit or sexually suggestive content of you without your consent, regardless of how they obtained your likeness, you have legal options. We pursue claims under invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, state non-consensual intimate imagery statutes, and the federal TAKE IT DOWN Act. If you found something and don’t know where to start, start here.
AI Platform & Company Liability
Most content in this space focuses on individual perpetrators. Donlon Brand goes further, pursuing the platforms and infrastructure that make mass exploitation possible. That includes the AI companies building these tools, the payment processors enabling transactions, and the businesses profiting from the violation of real people at scale. This is the liability frontier in AI image abuse litigation, and it’s where Donlon Brand is already working.
Image Scraping & Social Media Exploitation
A distinct and growing form of AI abuse where the perpetrator never had a personal relationship with the victim. Instead, they used automated tools to harvest photos from public Instagram, TikTok, or other social media profiles and fed them into AI systems to generate explicit content. This adds significant legal claims beyond standard intimate imagery laws, like unauthorized data harvesting, right of publicity violations, and the ability to pursue the companies and operators behind the scheme.
Deepfake Abuse in Schools
One of the fastest-growing categories of AI abuse in the country — and the one that drove federal legislation. Students, most often girls, are having explicit AI images generated of them by classmates using widely available tools. These cases require particular sensitivity and urgency. If your child has been victimized, we are here to help you understand every option available.
Sextortion & AI-Enabled Blackmail
When AI-generated images become a weapon. This focus area covers cases where explicit deepfake content is used to threaten, extort, or coerce — demanding money, sexual favors, or silence under threat of distribution. Extortion and wire fraud statutes layer on top of intimate imagery laws, often creating a stronger overall case. These situations can escalate quickly, and early legal intervention matters.
AI Voice & Likeness Misuse
Beyond images and video, AI can now clone voices and replicate likenesses with alarming accuracy. This covers cases where a fabricated audio recording, synthetic video, or AI-generated likeness was used to put words in your mouth, defraud someone in your name, or damage your reputation. The legal framework here is still developing, and Donlon Brand is positioned to pursue these cases as the law catches up with the technology.
Workplace & Professional Reputation Deepfakes
When AI-generated content is deployed to harm someone professionally. This includes explicit images created to undermine a colleague or competitor, fabricated video or audio of executives, and synthetic content designed to force someone out of a position or destroy their standing in an industry. These cases often involve significant economic damages alongside the emotional harm, like lost income, lost opportunities, and defamation claims.
Landmark Cases & Legal Advocacy
Donlon Brand is not just representing individual victims, we are actively working to establish the legal standards that protect everyone. Our current litigation against the operators and infrastructure behind a large-scale AI influencer exploitation scheme has drawn national press coverage and represents the kind of case that shapes how courts, legislators, and technology companies approach these issues going forward. If you have a complex case and are looking for attorneys who are building this area of law, not just practicing it, we want to hear from you.
